Installation of TWACS Meters Underway Northcentral EPA wants to remind members that installation of its two-way automatic communication system (TWACS) is in progress. Once installed, TWACS will use Northcentral’s existing power lines to communicate with every meter on its system in several different ways. “TWACS will allow us more than just meter reading,” said Kevin Doddridge, Northcentral EPA General Manager. “It will dramatically enhance service to our members by enabling us to remotely identify voltage problems, work high bill complaints, and poll to ensure that all meters are energized following an outage.” “The system will allow us to quickly solve many service-related problems for our customers while better utilizing employee time. It will increase efficiency and reduce costs,” said Doddridge. Sooner Electric has been contracted to change out existing meters for Northcentral EPA. They will be appropriately identified to Northcentral on their uniforms, through identification credentials, and on their vehicles. Approved customer notification procedures have been set up and will be followed to make all our members aware of their legitimate presence on their property and why they are changing out electric meters. To ease members’ minds with safety concerns, we want to emphasize that these meter change-outs are performed outside only at the customer’s meter. No personnel will be entering you house for any reason. There is no cost to our members. Over 18,200 meters have been changed out since the implementation of the program in November, 2007.
